For the second year running, Ant Law & Alex Hitchcock bring together an exclusive concert for the last night of EFG London Jazz Festival, held down below Stone Nest. Acclaimed as composers as well as instrumentalists, sharing multiple awards and numerous albums as leaders between them, saxophonist Alex and guitarist Ant have created a startlingly vivid new soundworld in their trailblazing group 'Same Moon in the Same World'. In their last show of the year the group will be previewing new music from their upcoming album 'House Of Light' before its release in 2026. This is cutting edge contemporary jazz.
They are joined by German bass sensation Niklas Lukassen (who has caused quite a stir since arriving back in Europe after years in NYC) and young drum genius Luke McCarthy - already a favourite on the scene despite barely having finished his studies at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music.
Ant was listed as a Rising Star in the Downbeat Critics Poll 2025 and called “a game changer” and “an innovator” in The Guardian. His ninth album ‘Unified Theories’ was Jazzwise magazine’s editor’s choice, receiving a 4.5 star review. In 2013 his debut 'Entanglement' was released, followed by 'Zero Sum World' (2015), 'Life I Know' (2018), ‘The Sleeper Wakes’ (2020) and ‘Ensconced’ (2024). Ant is a member of Trio HLK who record/tour with Evelyn Glennie and has also toured/recorded extensively with Tim Garland, Emma Rawicz and many more.
London-born Alex is one of the UK’s most virtuosic young musicians. His 2020 release 'AuB' (Edition) was described as ‘ready to make cataclysmic waves’ Jazzwise. His debut (Fresh Sound - home to debuts by Ambrose Akinmusire/Avishai Cohen) was described by All About Jazz as having 'stratospheric trajectory’. His burgeoning international reputation was confirmed by a major prize at Umbria Jazz Festival and tours in Poland, Spain, Italy, Hungary, performances at Love Supreme Festival, Royal Albert Hall and Ronnie Scott’s. ‘Letters From Afar’ is his astounding 2025 release, featuring an A-list band from NYC, where he has made his home for the last few years.
